Important Parking Notice!
The Wenatchee
Police Department is starting to patrol our front parking lot and the streets
surrounding our school. They
will be ticketing vehicles parked
illegally on the street, in the bus zone and parking lot. Please follow the rules/law and park in
the appropriate areas along the street.
Students should be using the crosswalks when crossing the street. Safety is a major concern for us and we
appreciate your continued support in making this a safe environment for all.

Important
Dates 5
The Department of
Health has recently revised the list of vaccinations that are required to
attend school in Washington State.
Varicella, more commonly known as chicken pox, was added to the list of required
immunizations. To
enter 6th grade
in the fall of 2006, it will be a requirement to provide either the date
of Varicella immunization or the approximate date of disease. Please contact the school office and
inform them of your childŐs Varicella status.
Sport
Physicals
Is your child
planning on participating in Middle School sports?
Sports physicals
are required for all students participating in any school sponsored sport. Please keep in mind that some sports
begin the first day of school so it is a good idea to make the doctor
appointment in July or August to avoid the last minute rush. Some providers offer sports physical
clinics at a reduced cost. Watch
your local newspaper for dates these clinics may be provided.

a support group for the parents of gifted and talented children. We will be

discussion at subsequent meetings.

National
Geographic TripOne of our very
own 4th grade students Max Schneider has been selected to be part of
an expedition team that will travel too the Galapagos Islands in May. Max Schneider is one of 15 kids between
ages 9 and 14 chosen as part of the National Geographic Kids Expedition
Team. Max wrote a short essay
about his small dog-walking business, and his expeditions walking the dogs on
the hills and trails around Wenatchee.
The six boys and nine girls will learn about photography, ecology and
writing while on the 10-day trip.
Max and 13 year-old Gregory DŐElia of Kodiak, Alaska, were the only two
from the Western United States selected for the trip. Congratulations Max and happy TRAILS!
Washing your hands
is the #1 way to
prevent the spread of germs that cause infections and illness. Sound easy enough? It is! However, in schools, good hand washing is also a
much-neglected practice! Good hand hygiene can be achieved either with washing
with soap and water, or by using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
