My name is Sandi Schmidt, and this will be my 5th year of teaching here at Lincoln Elementary. I have taught both first and second grade as well as teaching in both English and Spanish. I have spent the majority of my time here in 2nd grade, and I am looking forward to returning to such a rewarding grade level.
I was raised in the Wenatchee Valley and graduated from Eastmont High School in 1988. Soon after graduation I joined the Navy, traveled around the country a bit, and finally returned to the valley in 1994. Both in the Navy and in civilian life I worked as a dental assistant until I decided to return to school in 1999.
I have three children--two boys and one girl. My oldest two children are in high school, and my youngest is here with me at Lincoln. I also have two dogs named Mac and Misty.
This summer I earned my Master's Degree in education from Lesley University. The program that I attended, Integrated Teaching through the Arts, focused on teaching content through a variety of arts modalities. This is not only how I learned best as a child, but I find that teaching through the arts engages my students and motivates them to learn.
My favorite hobbies include listening to music, reading, and doing a variety of arts and crafts. I love photography and incorporate it into my teaching frequently. I enjoy making jewelry, scrapbooking, and spending time with friends and family.
